The Maintenance of Friends

Everyone says you drop off the face of the earth when you get married,
that you have no friends.

That is silly.
And not healthy.

We love friends.
They make our life so much richer,
and entertaining.

While Ben may be my best friend,
having a husband doesn't replace having girlfriends.
Ben may be all I need,
but in the wise words of C.S. Lewis:

Today I had lunch with these lovelies.
They're my favorite.
And I still call them my roommates.
And they always make me laugh.

If you get married, keep your friends.
Make new ones too, we love doing that.
But call your old ones.
See them often.
Don't drop of the face of the earth.

This is such a good point! My friends aren't even married but some with serious boyfriends seem to forget ALL about their girlfriends. My BF and I always try to make a constant effort to put time aside for our individual friends.

Very true!! I know a few of "those girls" that make their guys the center of their universe, and the only time I hear from them is when things are going down hill! A friendship like a plant has to be cultivated!

i'm definitely one of those annoying wives that wants to spend all their time with their husband but girlfriends are definitely VERY important, for sure!

I love this post! So true. And the feeling gets worse if you have kids. But it doesn't have to change if you don't let it. Over from Hollie's ditty!

This is really true :) My husband & I still hung out very often with friends! It's not really until you have kids where the "hanging" out start dwindling down a bit because priorities change but that doesn't mean you completely lose your friends!
Great post and thanks for stopping by my blog! :)
