This weekend was the perfect escape. Somehow I had convinced myself that working 30 - 40 hour weeks was going to mean I had lots of time to relax because I wouldn't be in classes. Yes, its less crazy than taking 16 credits and working 20 hours a week for sure, but it means there is little time between 9 and 5 to do anything outside.
Have you heard about our amazing friends Dave and Sarahjane? We love them a lot and aren't quite sure what we're going to do come August when they relocate to Florida for grad school (maybe we'll just have to follow them out there a year later?). We probably see these two every weekend and I was telling Ben in the car yesterday how they've basically turned into family.
Well we headed up to Bear Lake with them for some weekend fun in the sun and it was fabulous. On the way up we stopped for some climbing and made it to the resort in time for a little dip in the hot tub. Saturday included lying on the beach, kayaking adventures (we did indeed put all four of us on a two-person kayak), and yummy food. If you're looking for a getaway in Utah, Bear Lake is perfect. Its not the ocean, but the warm sand and clear water could have fooled me, almost.
The only downside of the trip were the sunburns. They were even worse than last year. I seriously needed my mother there to remind me to reapply sunscreen every two hours. All four of us got it pretty bad. Ben's deep red chest and Dave's speckled one take the cake but I think mine wins for most painful. I got a whole 4.5 hours of sleep Saturday night because I had to wake up and reapply aloe vera every 2 hours. Any tips for sunburns? This fried little girl would appreciate them.
For a few more pictures of our trip you can check out Sarahjane's post about our weekend here.
