It was my very first 4th of July spent away from my family and I actually found it a little intimidating to plan what we were going to do. Luckily we have such awesome friends near by and we celebrated all day with Dave and SJ. I really do not know what we ware going to do when these two move to FL next month.
We started off the morning rock climbing in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Followed by a little holiday shopping, and a mexican BBQ (yes, we grilled carne asada instead of burgers). We headed to the SLC fireworks show (where a "kind" man decided to stand up right in front of us as it started to take terrible picture of the fireworks for the ENTIRE show - so much for getting there early to get good seats! I don't even think he spoke english). We ended the night with root beer floats and I had totally forgotten how yummy those are!
Missed all the patriotic poetry and politicking back home but its fun to start our own little traditions as a family :) We are so blessed to live in such a wonderful country; God bless America.
P.S. I found out the next morning one of the professors I work for had called to see if we wanted two extra tickets to Stadium of Fire. Ninth row. With Elder Nelson and President Uchtdorf.
I'm still trying not to be too bitter. Reason #490293 why I should keep my phone on me.

Fun 4th!! Did you get anything good during your holiday shopping??
Sorry about missing the tickets....ahhh!!! That would definitely happen to me.
AH! I would be bitter to have missed that too! On the plus side you two are ridiculously cute! I love making new family traditions :-)
I hate not being with my fan on my 4th, we go to Tahoe every year and it's my 2nd 4th missing it. But it is also my second with Ryan :) luckily my sis was here this year and I have a cute hubby.
Uctdorf, I would of died if I heard that. But you will meet him one day :)

Wow. Sorry you missed out on the tickets! That would have been awesome!
that first photograph is so great -- all the little people bokehed out so perfectly in the background.
I love the sparkler picture! For some reason, no one ever looks sad in a sparkler picture ... ;)
Great photos!
